About Image Production

Back in 1980's, as a printing client, we always wanted to find a place to take care of all of our design, printing and production needs. Unfortunately, we could never find such a place. We had to design in one place and go to different places for production. Back in 1980's we were in charge of 5 different companies promotions. We had to spend hours and hours to get the jobs done and meet the deadlines. Sometimes, we had to spend 14 to 16 hours per day and we still were not able to finish the projects. We used to pend half of our time on commuting from one place to another. Fighting traffic and staying away from rush hours were the biggest challenges during those days. And we had to use Keymaps, there was no cell phones and GPS. So we always wanted to create a one stop full service graphic and production company.
In 1986 we stated getting into production part of the business. At that time, having a computer for design work was a big deal. Most of the pre production work was put together by hand. There was no internet and e-mails of course. We had to use huge cameras to create positives. Sometimes we had to go to one place just to get the high quality positives done. Positive films were transferred to printing plates. Printing two colors and matching the positions on the press was an all day job. We could only print one or two jobs per day back in the days.
Ten years later, in 1996 the concept of short run full color printing was slowly introduced into the market. Of course, the prices were extremely high. Before 1996 printing less than 20,000 in full color didn't make any sense. The pre press for full color printing was extremely costly. Today we enjoy direct transfer to press from the computer which has reduced cost and time tremendously.
